Numismatic issue dedicated to the anniversary of 100 years since Eugen Drăguțescu’s birth

Pursuant to the provisions of Law No. 312/2004 on the Statute of the National Bank of Romania, on 10 November 2014, the National Bank of Romania will put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, a silver coin dedicated to the anniversary of 100 years since Eugen Drăguțescu’s birth.

The coin has the following technical characteristics:

  • Face value: lei 10
  • Metal: silver
  • Fineness: 999‰
  • Shape: round
  • Diameter: 37 mm
  • Weight: 31.103 g
  • Quality: proof
  • Edge: milled

Obverse: a drawing by the plastic artist Eugen Drăguțescu, the face value “10 LEI”, the inscription “ROMANIA”, the coat of arms of Romania and the year of issue “2014”.

Reverse: Eugen Drăguțescu’s portrait, name and signature and the birth and death years “1914”, “1993”.


The silver coins are individually housed in transparent plastic capsules. They are accompanied by leaflets featuring a presentation of the numismatic issue in Romanian, English and French.

Each leaflet comes with a certificate of authenticity bearing the signatures of the Governor and the Chief Cashier of the National Bank of Romania.

The mintage of this numismatic issue is 250 coins.

The selling price is lei 330.00, VAT excluded, per silver coin, including the leaflet.

The silver coins dedicated to the anniversary of 100 years since Eugen Drăguțescu’s birth are legal tender on the territory of Romania.

The silver coins will be put into circulation through the regional branches of the National Bank of Romania in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Iaşi and Timişoara.
