  1. 16/05/2025 NBR Board decisions on monetary policy The NBR Board decided to keep the monetary policy rate at 6.5% p.a., to leave unchanged the lending (Lombard) facility rate at 7.5% p.a., the deposit facility rate at 5.5% p.a. and to keep the existing levels of minimum reserve requirement ratios on both leu- and foreign currency-denominated liabilities of credit institutions.
  2. 14/05/2025 Balance of payments and external debt – March 2025 In January – March 2025, the current account posted a deficit of EUR 7,656 mill. compared with EUR 4,201 mill. in the same year-ago period. Non-residents direct investment totalled EUR 1,672 mill., compared with EUR 2,481 mill. YoY. LT external debt at end-March 2025 ran at EUR 156,881 mill., up 1.2% against end-2024. ST external debt amounted to EUR 48,526 mill., down 2.7% from end-2024.
  3. 09/05/2025 Numismatic issue dedicated to 90 years since the establishment of the Academy of Medical Sciences of Romania As of 12 May 2025, the National Bank of Romania will put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, a coppered tombac coin to mark 90 years since the establishment of the Academy of Medical Sciences of Romania. The Face value of the coin is 1 leu and the weight is 23.5 g.
  4. 02/05/2025 International reserves – April 2025 On 30 April 2025, the National Bank of Romania’s foreign exchange reserves stood at EUR 62,414 million, compared to EUR 61,993 million on 31 March 2025. The gold stock remained steady at 103.6 tonnes. On 30 April 2025, Romania’s international reserves (foreign currencies and gold) stood at EUR 72,025 million, compared to EUR 71,580 million on 31 March 2025.
  5. 29/04/2025 Numismatic issue dedicated to 145 years since the establishment of the National Bank of Romania and 20 years since the redenomination of the domestic currency The mint set comprises the Romanian coins in circulation with face values of ban 1, bani 5, bani 10, bani 50 and a silver medal, all items in proof-like quality.   6. 28/04/2025 The National Bank of Romania launches the Economic@BNR project, an economic research, debate and education platform The Economic@BNR project, initiated and coordinated by Deputy Governor Cosmin Marinescu, is meant to prepare and present studies and analyses on various topics, for a deeper insight, from the perspective of public policies and the substantiation of economic policy decisions, into topical matters of interest to Romania also in the context of global developments.
  7. 25/04/2025 Monetary indicators - March 2025 In March 2025, RON loans to non-government sector (70.0% of total) grew by 1.0% month-on-month, whilst foreign currency-denominated loans expressed in RON (30.0% of total) advanced 0.3%. In year-on-year comparison, loans to non-government sector advanced 9.2%, on the back of the 10.9% increase in RON-denominated loans and the 5.3% rise in foreign currency-denominated loans expressed in RON.
