NBR's International Reserves in March 2007

At end-March 2007, foreign exchange reserves of the National Bank of Romania amounted to EUR 21,529.1 million.
The EUR 119.2 million decrease in the month under review owed to the following:
- EUR 453.7 million worth of inflows comprising incomes from international reserve management, change in the foreign-exchange reserve requirements of commercial banks, surrenders to official forex reserves, a.s.o.;
- EUR 572.9 million worth of outflows consisting in principal repayments and interest payments on public and publicly guaranteed external debt, the change in foreign-exchange reserve requirements of commercial banks, bank commissions, a.s.o.
The gold stock stayed at 104.7 tonnes. Following the developments in the world price of gold, its value dropped to EUR 1,676.9 million; as a result, the international reserves of the National Bank of Romania (foreign exchange and gold) exceeded EUR 23.20 billion.
By end-2007, payments due on public and publicly guaranteed external debt amount to EUR 843 million.
