Numismatic issue - a set of coins dedicated to the adoption of the new leu

The National Bank of Romania will sell for numismatic purposes, through its branches in Cluj-Napoca, Iaşi, Timişoara and Bucharest, a set of coins dedicated to the introduction of the new leu (RON). The set consists of coins with face value of 1 ban, 5 bani, 10 bani and 50 bani. The set of coins will be put into circulation starting 1 June 2005.

The four coins will be displayed in a rectangular case made of transparent metacrylate and will be embedded in special slots on a board. The front side features the image of the NBR building and the back side shows the technical characteristics of the new coins.

The issue of 5,000 sets of numismatic coins is to be sold both on domestic and foreign markets for ROL 46,218 per set (RON 4.62 per set). The price does not include VAT.

The above-mentioned set of coins will be legal tender starting 1 July 2005.
