Press release on paper banknotes withdrawal

The National Bank of Romania reiterates that 31 December 2004 is the time limit when the paper banknotes with face value of ROL 50,000 lei - year of issue 2000 and ROL 100,000 lei - year of issue 1998 may be exchanged.
By 31 December 2004, the paper banknotes with face value of ROL 50,000 lei - year of issue 2000 and ROL 100,000 - year of issue 1998, which are no longer legal tender since 31 May 2004, may be exchanged only by the National Bank of Romania branches in Bucharest, Cluj Napoca, Iaşi and Timişoara.
