NBR has decided to lower the policy rate by 0.75 of a percentage point

The National Bank of Romania Board has decided, after giving due consideration to the latest developments in macroeconomic indicators, to lower, starting 12 July 2004, the policy rate by 0.75 of a percentage point in order to illustrate the progress in disinflation.
The National Bank of Romania will maintain the cautious monetary policy stance to ensure that macroeconomic equilibria remain in place.
