Press release of Bank Deposit Guarantee Fund

The Bank Deposit Guarantee Fund informs the public of the following:
Pursuant to the provisions under Art. 5 para. (2) of Government Ordinance No. 39/1996 on establishment and operation of the Bank Deposit Guarantee Fund, as republished, the ceiling up to which the Fund guarantees deposits held by natural persons with banks subject to the above mentioned provisions shall be raised from ROL 100,453,000 to ROL 109,795,000 per depositor, following the indexation with the consumer price index in June 2002 compared with December 2001.
The new ceiling shows the level of compensation to be paid by the Fund for household deposits with banks during the second half of 2002 according to the above-mentioned legal provisions.
