Should a numismatic issue fall short of the coins intended for online reservation, please be informed that items may be purchased directly from the counters of the NBR’s regional branches, without reservation, starting 5 November 2024.
As of 5 November 2024, the National Bank of Romania will put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, a gold coin to mark 80 years since the unfolding of Operation “Neptune” and a special sheet consisting of four banknotes with face value of lei 10.

Obverse: the Tismana Monastery, where the National Bank of Romania Treasure was evacuated in 1944, the inscription “ROMANIA” in an arc, the coat of arms of Romania, the face value “100 LEI” and the year of issue “2024”.
Reverse: the portraits and the names of NBR Governors Constantin Angelescu and Ion Lapedatu, the Old Palace of the National Bank of Romania in the background and the inscription ‘OPERATIUNEA ,,NEPTUN”’.
The gold coins marking 80 years since the unfolding of Operation “Neptune” are housed in transparent plastic capsules and are accompanied by booklets featuring a presentation of the numismatic issue and certificates of authenticity in Romanian, English and French. The certificates of authenticity bear the signatures of the Governor and the Chief Cashier of the National Bank of Romania.
The gold coins marking 80 years since the unfolding of Operation “Neptune” are legal tender on the territory of Romania. Each of the special sheets contains four banknotes with face value of lei 10. The banknotes have consecutive series and the same technical specifications as the banknotes in circulation with face value of lei 10.
The special sheets consisting each of four banknotes with face value of lei 10 are enclosed in presentation envelopes and are accompanied by certificates of authenticity in Romanian, English and French. The certificates of authenticity bear the signatures of the Governor and the Chief Cashier of the National Bank of Romania, as well as the series of the banknotes.

The maximum mintage is 1,000 gold coins marking 80 years since the unfolding of Operation “Neptune” and the maximum printed number of special sheets is 5,000 pieces consisting each of four banknotes with face value of lei 10.
The selling prices are:
- lei 4,200.00, VAT excluded, for the gold coin, including the booklet and the certificate of authenticity;
- lei 60.00, VAT excluded, per special sheet consisting of four banknotes with face value of lei 10, including the certificate of authenticity.
The gold coins marking 80 years since the unfolding of Operation “Neptune” and the special sheets consisting each of four banknotes with face value of lei 10 are put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, through the regional branches of the National Bank of Romania in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Constanța, Craiova, Iași and Timișoara.
