NBR's International Reserves - June 2009

On June 30th 2009, National Bank of Romania's foreign exchange reserves stood at EUR 26,466 million, compared to EUR 26,852 million on May 31st 2009.

During the month, the following transactions have taken place:

  • EUR 1,549 million worth of inflows, representing changes in the foreign exchange reserve requirements of credit institutions, inflows to the Ministry of Finance's account held at NBR, income from the management of foreign exchange reserves, transactions in the interbank market, a.s.o.;
  • EUR 1,935 million outflows, representing changes in foreign exchange reserve requirements of credit institutions, the impact of bond price movements during the month of June, the impact of the foreign reserves' component currencies' exchange rates movements, interest and principal payments on public and publicly guaranteed external debt and other interbank market transactions.

The gold stock has held steady at 103.7 tonnes. However, following the change in the international price of gold, its value amounted to EUR 2,224 million.

The international reserves of Romania (foreign currencies and gold) on June 30th, 2009 stood at EUR 28,690 million, compared to EUR 29,161 million on May 31st, 2009.

During the month of June 2009, the payments due on public and publicly guaranteed external debt amount to EUR 132.79 million.
