Should a numismatic issue fall short of the coins intended for online reservation, please be informed that items may be purchased directly from the counters of the NBR’s regional branches, without reservation, starting 6 February 2023.
Pursuant to the provisions of Law No. 312/2004 on the Statute of the National Bank of Romania, as of 6 February 2023, the National Bank of Romania will put into circulation for numismatic purposes a gold coin to mark 150 years since the birth of Iuliu Maniu.

Obverse: the palace of the Assembly of Deputies in Bucharest during the interwar period, the inscription “ROMANIA” in an arc, the year of issue “2023”, the coat of arms of Romania and the face value “500 LEI”.
Reverse: the portrait, name and signature of Iuliu Maniu and his birth and death years “1873” and “1953”.
The gold coins, housed in transparent plastic capsules, will be accompanied by leaflets featuring a presentation of the numismatic issue, as well as by certificates of authenticity, in Romanian, English and French. Each certificate of authenticity bears the signatures of the Governor and the Chief Cashier of the National Bank of Romania.
The maximum mintage is 1,000 gold coins.
The selling price for the gold coin, including the leaflet and the certificate of authenticity, is lei 14,500.00, VAT excluded.
The gold coins dedicated to 150 years since the birth of Iuliu Maniu are legal tender on the territory of Romania.
The coins will be put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, through the regional branches of the National Bank of Romania in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Constanța, Craiova, Iași and Timișoara.
