Numismatic issues dedicated to 170 years since the establishment of the University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Bucharest

Should a numismatic issue fall short of the coins intended for online reservation, please be informed that items may be purchased directly from the counters of the NBR’s regional branches, without reservation, starting 19 September.


Pursuant to the provisions of Law No. 312/2004 on the Statute of the National Bank of Romania, as of 19 September 2022, the National Bank of Romania will put into circulation for numismatic purposes a silver coin to mark 170 years since the establishment of the University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Bucharest.

Reverse

Obverse: the rectorate building of the University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Bucharest, the inscription “ROMANIA” in an arc, the face value “10 LEI”, the coat of arms of Romania and the year of issue “2022”.

Reverse: the portrait and name of Prince Barbu Dimitrie Știrbei, the founding father of the Pantelimon Agricultural Institute, the forerunner of the University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Bucharest, the institute’s building, the inscriptions “UNIVERSITATEA DE STIINTE AGRONOMICE SI MEDICINA VETERINARA DIN BUCURESTI”, “170 DE ANI”, and “1852”, the year when the institute was set up.

The silver coins, housed in transparent plastic capsules, will be accompanied by certificates of authenticity, bearing the signatures of the NBR Governor and the Chief Cashier, in Romanian, English and French.

The maximum mintage of this numismatic issue is 5,000 silver coins.

The selling price for the silver coin, including the certificate of authenticity, is lei 440.00, VAT excluded.

The silver coins dedicated to 170 years since the establishment of the University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Bucharest are legal tender on the territory of Romania.

The silver coins will be put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, through the regional branches of the National Bank of Romania in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Constanța, Craiova, Iaşi and Timişoara.
