Should a numismatic issue fall short of the coins intended for online reservation, please be informed that items may be purchased directly from the counters of the NBR’s regional branches, without reservation, starting May 30.
Pursuant to the provisions of Law No. 312/2004 on the Statute of the National Bank of Romania, as of 30 May 2022, the National Bank of Romania will put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, a silver coin to mark 140 years since the birth of Vasile Pârvan.

Obverse: an image of the ruins of the ancient city of Histria and the inscription “HISTRIA”, the inscription “ROMANIA” in an arc, the face value “10 LEI”, the coat of arms of Romania and the year of issue “2022”.
Reverse: the portrait, name and signature of Vasile Pârvan and his birth and death years, “1882” and “1927”.
The silver coins, housed in transparent plastic capsules, will be accompanied by certificates of authenticity bearing the signatures of the NBR Governor and the Chief Cashier, in Romanian, English and French.
The maximum mintage of this numismatic issue is 5,000 silver coins.
The selling price for the silver coin, including the certificate of authenticity, is lei 465.00, VAT excluded.
The silver coins dedicated to 140 years since the birth of Vasile Pârvan are legal tender on the territory of Romania.
The silver coins will be put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, through the regional branches of the National Bank of Romania in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Constanța, Craiova, Iaşi and Timişoara.
