Numismatic issues dedicated to 175 years since the birth of Queen Elisabeta of Romania

Pursuant to the provisions of Law No. 312/2004 on the Statute of the National Bank of Romania, as of 15 October 2018, the National Bank of Romania will put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, a silver coin dedicated to 175 years since the birth of Queen Elisabeta of Romania.

The coin has the following characteristics:

  • Face value: lei 100 ;
  • Metal: gold;
  • Fineness: 900‰;
  • Shape: round;
  • Diameter: 21 mm;
  • Weight: 6.452 g;
  • Quality: proof;
  • Edge: milled

Obverse: the image of Queen Elisabeta of Romania at different stages in her life and activity, the inscription “ROMANIA” in an arc, the year of issue “2018”, the coat of arms of Romania and the face value “100 LEI”.

Reverse: the portrait and monogram of Queen Elisabeta of Romania and the inscription “REGINA ELISABETA A ROMANIEI 175 DE ANI DE LA NASTERE” in an arc.

The gold coins are individually housed in transparent plastic capsules and are accompanied by leaflets featuring a presentation of the numismatic issue in Romanian, English and French. Each leaflet comes with a certificate of authenticity bearing the signatures of the Governor and the Chief Cashier of the National Bank of Romania.

The mintage of this issue is 250 gold coins.

The selling price is lei 1,570.00, VAT excluded, per gold coin, including the leaflet.

The gold coins marking 175 years since the birth of Queen Elisabeta of Romania are legal tender on the territory of Romania.

The gold coins will be put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, through the regional branches of the National Bank of Romania in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Iaşi and Timişoara.
