The NBR participates in the 2018 edition of Global Money Week

In the period from 12 to 16 March 2018, the National Bank of Romania, in partnership with Child and Youth Finance International and the Ministry of National Education, organises the “Global Money Week”. The theme of this year’s event is “Money Matters Matter”.

During this week, the NBR branches and agencies will host a series of educational activities for secondary education students. By way of interactive activities, the students will be able to talk with NBR experts about saving, credit, interest, inflation, the history of the domestic currency, the role and functions of the central bank. The formal and non-formal means of presentation will be supported by video materials about the history of the leu, the mintage of coins and printing of banknotes in circulation and the security features of banknotes.

The week will end on Friday, 16 March 2018, with the conference entitled “Financial inclusion – from words to action” that will take place at the head office of the NBR and will be attended by representatives of the Ministry of National Education, the Financial Supervisory Authority, the Romanian Association of Banks and Mastercard Romania.

The 2018 Global Money Week programme is part of the global awareness campaign for money importance in which countries on all continents participate. This project is aimed at improving the financial education of children and youth as well as at increasing financial inclusion.

The NBR participates in the Global Money Week for the fifth year in a row.
