Numismatic issues dedicated to 80 years since the inauguration of the “Dimitrie Gusti” National Village Museum

Pursuant to the provisions of Law No. 312/2004 on the Statute of the National Bank of Romania, as of 3 May 2016, the National Bank of Romania will put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, a mint set dedicated to 80 years since the inauguration of the “Dimitrie Gusti” National Village Museum.

The mint set comprises the Romanian coins in circulation of ban 1, bani 5, bani 10, bani 50 and the commemorative coins of bani 50 (Aurel Vlaicu, Mircea cel Bătrân, Neagoe Basarab, Vladislav I Vlaicu, 10 years since the redenomination of the domestic currency and John Hunyadi), as well as a silver medal.

The silver medal has the following characteristics:

  • Metal: silver
  • Fineness: 800‰
  • Shape: round
  • Diameter: 28 mm
  • Weight: 15.5 g
  • Quality: proof
  • Edge: flat

Obverse: a composition showing the model of a Romanian village, as depicted in the museum’s logo.

Reverse: Dimitrie Gusti’s portrait and name, and his birth and death years, “1880” and “1955”.

The mint set comes in a case and includes a leaflet, with the minted items being inserted in special slots. The silver medal and the coins in the set have been struck to proof quality.

The mintage of this numismatic issue is 250 sets.

The selling price is lei 260.00, VAT excluded, per set.

The mint set will be put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, through the branches of the National Bank of Romania in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Iaşi and Timişoara.
