Brass commemorative coin dedicated to the anniversary of 10 years since the redenomination of the domestic currency

Pursuant to the provisions of Law No. 312/2004 on the Statute of the National Bank of Romania, as of 1 July 2015, the National Bank of Romania will put into circulation a brass commemorative coin dedicated to the anniversary of 10 years since the redenomination of the domestic currency.
The coin has the following technical characteristics:
- Face value: bani 50
- Metal: brass Cu80Zn15Ni5
- Fineness: -
- Shape: round
- Diameter: 23.75 mm
- Weight: 6.1 g
- Rim: 1.9 mm
- Quality: uncirculated
- Edge: “ROMANIA” inscribed twice, with an asterisk separating the inscriptions
Obverse: the inscription “ROMANIA”, the year of issue “2015”, the coat of arms of Romania and the face value “50 BANI”; on the background, behind the face value and the coat of arms, the text “BNR50” inscribed continuously on 5 rows.
Reverse: the Old Palace of the National Bank of Romania, the inscriptions “10 ANI”, “DENOMINAREA MONEDEI NATIONALE” and “2005”, the redenomination year.
The mintage of this issue is 1,000,000 coins.
The commemorative coins with face value of bani 50 will have the same technical characteristics as the bani 50 coins currently in circulation and will circulate in parallel with the latter.
The brass commemorative coins dedicated to the anniversary of 10 years since the redenomination of the domestic currency will be put into circulation through the branches of the National Bank of Romania in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Iaşi and Timişoara when making cash payments to credit institutions/the State Treasury.
