The Board of Directors of the National Bank of Romania

The NBR is headed by the Board of Directors consisting of nine members who are elected by the Parliament of Romania, following the nominations by the standing committees of the two Chambers of the Parliament, for a renewable five year-period (NBR Act: Law No. 312/2004).

The nine-strong Board includes four NBR executives, i.e. the Governor and the three Deputy Governors (of whom one is First Deputy Governor), and five members that are not on the payroll of the NBR. Pursuant to the law, Board members shall not be MPs, members of a political party, Court officials or public servants.

The NBR Board is composed of:

* Appointed pursuant to Parliament Decision No. 42 of 24 May 2017, after the resignation of Mr. Bogdan Olteanu on 17 October 2016
** Starting with 8 July 2019, Mr. Daniel Daianu has ceased to work as a non-executive member of the NBR Board, in order to honor the new mandate entrusted to the Fiscal Council
*** Starting with 26 August 2019, Mr. Liviu Voinea has ceased to work as NBR Vicegovernor, due to his appointment as representative of Romania to the International Monetary Fund
