The Priority Action Plan for European Integration has been an ample, synthesis document elaborated by the Ministry of European Integration to be submitted to the Romanian Government for periodic analysis. This document targeted the state of implementation of the commitments assumed by the Romanian authorities and, therefore by the NBR through: (i) negotiation documents, (ii) programming documents related to the preparation for the accession to the EU as well as, (iii) periodic evaluations of the European Commission. The European Integration and External Relations Department has had the task of monitoring the commitments assumed by the NBR in the negotiation process for the chapters regarding the Romanian banking system, in order to observe these obligations and to ensure consistency with other programming documents and other normative acts issued subsequent to the closure of negotiations in December 2004.
