The NBR Museum at the 'A Hundred Years since the First World War' Exhibition


The Museum of the National Bank of Romania has accepted the invitation of the Museum of the Fagaras County, “Valer Literat” with a view to organize in partnership an exhibition of cartography, numismatics, philately and photography, commemorating 100 years since the beginning of World War One. The exhibition was inaugurated on September 4th 2014, at the Fagaras Museum, with the participation of local authorities, important historians and specialists in conservation and restoration, and of participants in the Annual Session of Scientific Dissertations, organized by the Museum of the Fagaras County “Valer Literat” on September 4th and 5th.

The Museum of the National Bank of Romania has exhibited a selection of banknotes, medals, coins, shares, post cards, scale models and molds of coins and medals. The exhibits featured World War One and the subsequent period, particularly relevant in the history of Romania, also emphasizing the role played by the National Bank of Romania in supporting our country’s economy and national currency. At its turn, the Museum of Fagaras County ‘Valer Literat” participated with banknotes, coins, decorations, medals and documents relating to World War One. The exhibition was completed by a private collection of philatelic items referring to the same period and was open for visitation until October 31st 2014.
