Security thread
Hold the banknote against the light and the thread will appear as a dark narrow stripe in the middle area.
Perfect register
Different elements of the same design are printed in the same place on both sides of the note and combine perfectly to form the whole picture. The entire design can be seen when the note is held up to the light.
The perfect register is located on the obverse, under the name of the central bank.

Iridescent stripe on the reverse side
All Romanian notes in circulation have on the right of the reverse side a vertical translucent iridescent stripe which has the nominal value printed seven times.
Microtext
All Romanian notes in circulation have, on the obverse and reverse, printed areas which contain tiny writing. This can be seen using a magnifying glass.
UV print
On the reverse, green tetragon in UV light which holds the nominal value: "1", "5", "10", "20", "50", "100", "200", "500".
Series of Romanian banknotes in circulation consists of three digits and a letter and number of seven digits. Number of each note is unique. The black vertical serial number shines green, the red horizontal increasing characters serial number shines orange in UV light.
